West Golf Course Hole 1: Par 4 - 279m (305 yards)
Begin your game of golf on this short par 4 opening hole at the West Course. As you tee off the ideal location is to the landing area making sure you are short of the water hazard at 180m. This hole will begin the accurate shots needed to complete the full 18 holes. Once you have found the middle of the fairway be sure to avoid the large fairway bunker on the left hand side. Be aware the clubhouse and out of bounds areas are to the right hand side so accuracy is fundamental. Golfers will have between 100 to 120m to the green from the fairway whilst ensuring you carry the water hazard present. The green is not highly protected with just one side bunker, allowing those out of position a good chance of finding the green.

West Golf Course Hole 2: Par 3 - 132m (144 yards)
This short second hole stands at only 132m from the yellow tees. The trees featured slightly narrows the hole from the left and right hand side. As you look out from the tee off area you may be aware of the small looking landing area but remember only one green side bunker is present at the front left. Avoid this and you will have a great opportunity to save par. The green however is surrounded by trees with an out of bounds area behind; accuracy here will gladly take you to the next hole.

West Golf Course Hole 3: Par 5 - 406m (444 yards)
This is the first of the par 5 holes on the West Course at La Manga Club. Featuring a dog leg right, golfers will need accuracy to find the narrow landing area from the tee. With a bunker beyond the landing area, golfers may wish to opt for the safe option whilst the experienced may like to show off their talent by reaching the green in two. However with a large green side bunker protecting the front of the green, golfers will have to be considerate to their approach by a conservative option to leave a short iron giving the chance to achieve a birdie.

West Golf Course Hole 4: Par 3 - 125m (137 yards)
With two large bunkers to the front left and right, players will find this par 3 to be a well protected hole. Past the bunkers the remainder of the green has trees surrounding allowing very little room for inaccuracy should players fail to reach the putting surface from the tee. However players should feel confident playing hole 4 as the large green is fairly forgiving to give the chance of a birdie putt.

West Golf Course Hole 5: Par 4 - 280m (306 yards)
This par 4 hole 5 presents golfers with the first dog leg left. With numerous opportunities to become out of position it is recommended that you are strategic with your shots from the tee. Running down the entire left hand side of the hole is an out of bounds area to leave golfers with a very tight narrow line for the longer hitters to cut the corner. Like many holes on the West Course, subtle green side bunkers and the presence of trees should prompt golfers to take the long iron from the tee. By laying up to 100m players will leave themselves with a comfortable approach to the green. With two green side bunkers to the front, players should not worry.

West Golf Course Hole 6: Par 5 - 448m (490 yards)
This par 5 hole is a more difficult dog leg left that requires fundamentally on an excellent drive from the tee to be able to achieve a good finish. The ideal line through the dog leg left is down the right hand side as this route will give all golfers a great chance of approach to the green. From the tee there are three fairway bunkers to avoid, the longer hitters who aim to reach the green in two will be required to produce an excellent shot as the well protected narrow green has three green side bunkers whilst being set back to the left of the fairway. There is little room for error so most players will play conservatively by opting for the safe route.

West Golf Course Hole 7: Par 3 - 150m (164 yards)
Players should take into account that this par 3 hole plays slightly uphill. From the tee off area the green looks somewhat small but this is mainly due to the elevation of the fairway. Golfers should take the two green side bunkers into consideration as once cleared, the green is open. Be careful though as behind the green are trees acting as a hazard to some. Avoid the hazards set and players will have a chance of securing par.

West Golf Course Hole 8: Par 4 - 340m (372 yards)
Due to the out of bounds running down the right hand side, this dog leg right is a tough hole where patience is required to succeed. Both sides of the fairway are lined with trees making it important to stay clear of trouble. Players will most likely be tempted to play safe from the tee as aggressive play can leave you trying to find the narrow landing area with a small gully to make little margin for error. The best option is to lay up allowing a comfortable approach to the centre of the green. The green is protected by trees and two bunkers to uphold this challenging par 4 hole.

West Golf Course Hole 9: Par 5 - 403m (440 yards)
This is the final hole for the first 9, and what better way to finish then a par 5 dog leg left. With potential risks and rewards available players will most likely play this as a true par 5 by playing for the best position off the tee. It is worth nothing that the fairway slopes off to the right towards the green, which can be reached in two by aggressive play cutting the corner of the dog leg left. Approach to the green is best from the left or centre of the fairway. The longer hitters should be aware that a gully lays 50 metres in front of the green that could cause surprising problems.
